What is Placement Learning?
Placement Learning is different from work experience; it is a planned period of learning, normally outside of UCP Marjon, where the learning outcomes are intended as part of student’s degree studies. Credit is not awarded for undertaking work, but for the learning and skills achieved and demonstrated as a result of the experience.QAA Code of Practise for Placement Learning.

Elaine Young from UCP Marjon Careers says:

Careers Header Graphic "The value of placements cannot be over-stated. It provides you with an invaluable opportunity to develop skills, which are demanded by graduate employers and will dramatically enhance your employability. Placements show employers

that you are able to take responsibility; Placements increase your confidence, time-management, personal organisation, project management, communication, team work, and networking skills."

"A recent report, Learning through Work Placements and Beyond: A Report for HECSU (Prospects, August 2006) refers to “… the positive transfer of learning from the placement to subsequent stages of an individual’s learning through the taught programme of studies.” Work placements complement and enhance your academic studies. The practical application of your knowledge increases your motivation, and may well provide you with ideas for your final dissertation."

"Placements enhance your CV and help to give you an ’edge’ at interviews. They provide you with an insight into professional career paths and opportunities and help you to make informed choices."
